Damascus — FAZ Investment has outlined a set of real estate projects it plans to develop in Syria, during a scientific forum in Damascus on urban planning and sustainable construction.

The forum was organised by the Syrian Engineers Syndicate in cooperation with the company, at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, on Wednesday 28 October 2026. It discussed building-code controls, sustainable urban planning, and opportunities to use energy efficiency and thermal insulation in real estate development projects.

During the forum, the company’s chief engineer, Hani Al-Samarrai, presented the projects the company is working on, alongside other plans still under study, ahead of preparing implementation concepts for them in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Zabadani: a tourist resort

In Zabadani, the company plans to build a tourist resort on about 300,000 square metres.

The idea builds on the area’s location and nature, and what they can offer for developing accommodation, services and surrounding tourist facilities.

Aleppo: Madinat al-Maaref and a residential city under study

In Aleppo, the announced plans include developing Madinat al-Maaref, in parallel with studying a large residential city.

The residential city under study would, according to the presentation, be based on international codes and standards in planning and construction, including precise technical requirements and land-use regulation.

No location for the proposed residential city in Aleppo has been announced yet, nor details of Madinat al-Maaref, nor any timetable for either project.

A wider map: Douma and Yaafour

The company’s map is not limited to Zabadani and Aleppo. In Douma, the plans include a commercial centre and multi-use towers, combining commercial activity with different urban uses.

In Yaafour, the company is studying an integrated residential area on up to about 440,000 square metres.

The presentation also noted other projects still under study, with an emphasis on drawing on Saudi expertise in urban planning, building codes and modern engineering standards.

What has not been announced yet

So far, the announced information includes no total investment value, no start dates for implementation, and no announced completion phases for any of the four projects.

The next step, in practice, is what will determine the weight of these plans: financing and licensing details and implementation phases, and each project’s move from study to actual implementation.

That move is the most important indicator for the Syrian market, whether in terms of stimulating the construction sector, creating jobs, or expanding the supply of housing and commercial and tourist facilities.
